Faith Resources Newsletter
Number 67
January 2017
[D]on’t wait until you are 64 before you start considering seriously your life and how it has been used for God. Start pondering seriously on these matters now, regardless of your age.

Message from the Manager
Welcome to our first Newsletter for 2017. We hope our readers had a very happy and holy Christmas and pray that God will bless your hearts and homes this year. The holiday season will soon be over and our educational institutions including schools, seminaries, universities, colleges, Parish Sacramental Programs, Catechists and parents will be back in swing for the year ahead. With this in mind we have stocked up on all our Catholic resources that will help those involved in bringing the wonders of our Holy Faith to the young, and to anyone interested in furthering their knowledge or considering joining the Catholic Church.
Over the Christmas break those opposed to the welfare of our country have been active, quietly preparing legislation that is in opposition, not only to our Christian values, but to the very laws of nature. The Rosary is our greatest and most effective weapon in this struggle but we should not be complacent. We still need to keep ourselves informed of what is happening. New supplies of Gabriele Kuby’s book, ‘The Global Sexual Revolution’, and David van Gend’s book, ‘Stealing from a Child’, have arrived. Please note that we will soon have Bill Muehlenberg’s books, ‘Strained Relations’ and ‘Dangerous Relations’.
Let us pray and hope, since America’s new president has stopped funding Planned Parenthood and legislation is now passing in many states that will protect the unborn, that the hearts of our leaders will be softened and they too will protect the lives of the unborn in Australia. Prayer for the people involved and the continuation of this wonderful start is of paramount importance.
This year will be the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. Her message is timeless. If we want peace for the world we must pray sincerely, especially the Rosary, do penances, accept and offer up our sufferings and stop offending God. Our Lady promised Jacinta, Lucia and Francisco that if people heeded her message the world would have peace, sinners would be converted and countless souls would be saved from the fires of Hell. There are new books about Fatima written for the centenary and specially crafted rosaries in stock. They can us help take advantage of the many graces Our Lady of the Rosary will give the world if we too increase our efforts to pray and offer sacrifices to Our Lord for sinners.
A sincere thank you is extended to all our wonderful readers, for without your prayers and support we could not keep going. May God keep you and your families in His heart this year.

Strained Relations: The Challenge of Homosexuality by Bill Muehlenberg $26.95
Dangerous Relation: The Threat of Homosexuality by Bill Muehlenberg $19.95

This book is written by a well-known American-born, Australian-based veteran family researcher and activist whose chief concern is defending marriage and the family. This comprehensive, detailed and thoroughly documented volume deals with every aspect of the homosexual debate, including detailed chapters on homosexual "marriage" and adoption rights. The book also examines the biblical and theological material on this subject, showing that any religion that tries to soften God’s Will regarding homosexual acts misinterprets God’s Word. There are over 700 footnotes, making it the most extensively researched and referenced volume on this topic available in Australia. Much of the book features international research and data as well, making it great value to anyone from around the globe concerned about this issue. In ‘Dangerous Relation: The Threat of Homosexuality’ Bill Muehlenberg furthers his accurate research with more relevant data and the latest studies. Once the push to redefine marriage intensified to landslide proportions the author realised it was even more imperative that people had access to the latest information showing the incredible dangers Australians and others face in the light of the agenda to redefine marriage, an agenda that is in opposition to the way God made us. Fatima for Today by Fr Andrew Apostoli CFR $28.95
Cardinal Raymond Burke has written the Foreward to this book, urging readers to heed the urgent Marian message of Hope. 2017 is the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Apparitions at Fatima. Our Lady's call to prayer and penance for the salvation of souls and peace in the world is as relevant now as when first delivered to three Portuguese peasant children in 1917. At the peak of the First World War, Our Lady warned of another worldwide conflict, the rise and spread of Communism, and a terrible persecution of the Church unless people repented of their sins and returned to God. She also requested devotion to her Immaculate Heart and a special consecration of Russia. Much of what Our Lady of Fatima said was revealed soon after her appearances, but the third and final "secret", which was not a message but a prophetic vision seen by the children, was not unveiled by the Vatican until 2000. Pope John Paul II, who read the third secret while recovering from the attempt upon his life in 1981, believed the vision signified the sufferings the Church had endured in the twentieth century Because of the prophetic nature of her messages, Our Lady of Fatima has been the subject of much controversy and speculation. In this book, Father Andrew Apostoli carefully analyses the events that took place in Fatima and clears up lingering questions and doubts about their meaning. He also challenges the reader to hear anew the call of Our Lady to prayer and sacrifice, for the world is ever in need of generous hearts willing to make reparation for those in danger of losing their way to God.

A.D. 2017 will be crucial for the apostolate:
In Christ’s Name, we uphold His Gospel of Life:
·         the life-giving family, hence marriage,
·         the life-giving Church, hence priesthood.
In Christ’s Name, we oppose Satan’s death plans:
·         contraception & divorce;
·         perversion & pornography;
·         abortion & euthanasia & other murders.
WITHOUT A VISION THE PEOPLE PERISH
We need the seven spiritual senses:
·         a sense of faith and a sense of compassion;
·         sense of The Sacred and a sense of humour,
·         a sense of the apostolate and a sense of history,
·         and a sense of urgency.
What is most needed in the world today is to have in each parish a group of laity who are at the same time virtuous, enlightened, determined and really apostolic.
St Pius X
The times are very evil and no one speaks against them. There are some who rest their divine mission on their own unsupported assertion; others on their popularity; others on their success; and others on their temporal distinctions. I fear we have neglected the real ground on which our authority is built — our apostolic descent.
Blessed John Henry Newman, Tracts for the Times. 1833
Our values are under attack and our catechesis, far from strengthening them, serves only to weaken them further.

BATTLE FIELDS in 2017
SAFE SCHOOLS COALITION
Both Federal and State Governments are pouring taxpayers money into promoting sexual immorality, i.e. child abuse, from pre-school and all K-12.
SAME SEX UNIONS
The proposed legislation for same-sex “marriages” contradicts God’s plan and is quite immoral. Even when discussing the proposals, free speech is restricted and rights of assembly and religion threatened. The verbal engineering and anti-discrimination tribunals are a foretaste of the persecutions to come.
New books for the coming battles of 2017 and suitable as presents for loved ones in their lay apostolate are so potent that, as soon as CNFRI listed them, a hacker slew our website, but it is now Providentially resuscitated:
STEALING FROM A CHILD, The Injustice of ‘Marriage Equality’, June 2016, by Dr David Van Gend, Queensland family doctor. This is essential reading for Christians in Australia. 273 pp $29.95.
LGBTQ activists (Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transsexual-Queer) felt so threatened by this book that, the day before the book launch, the original printer refused the job, so the heroic publisher Connor Court had to find another printer at the last moment.
THE GLOBAL SEXUAL REVOLUTION, The Destruction of Freedom in the Name of Freedom by Gabriele Kuby, who is a convert, a mother and a sociologist: original German edition, 2012, of which Pope Benedict XVI wrote, “Mrs Kuby is a brave warrior against ideologies that ultimately result in the destruction of man.” English translation, 2015, 283 pp $28.95.
Our local battles against same-sex “marriages” and Safe Schools Coalition immorality are against Satan’s world-wide strategy. And our problems are not yet as bad as overseas.
STRAINED RELATIONS, The Challenge of Homosexuality by Bill Muehlenberg 2011/2014 (4“' printing). He documents its health hazards, its impermanence and infidelities, whereas marriage is healthy, “for life” and “to the exclusion of all others”: 256 pp.
The quote on p. 5 from a quite unexpected source is refreshingly startling and will surprise the reader:
Even in purely non-religious terms, homosexuality represents a misuse of the sexual faculty and, in the words of one educator, of ‘human construction.’ It is a pathetic little second-rate substitute for reality, a pitiable flight from life. As such, it deserves fairness, compassion, understanding, and, when possible, treatment. But it deserves no encouragement, no glamorization, no rationalization, no fake status as a minority martyrdom...
And the author of this statement? Fred Nile? Jerry Faldwell? No. It was uttered by Time magazine on January 21, 1966. Would Time magazine ever dare to utter such comments today? Of course not.
RECONSTRUCTION after deconstructionism
Reconstruction starts with an old principle: Quidquid recipitur per modum recipentis recipitur, “Whatever is received is received according to the measure of the recipient.”
Now embellish this with a new principle: “Whatever is uttered is uttered according to the mindset of the utterer.”
In other words, when journalists, politicians, judges and academics are atheists, unsympathetic to religion or morality, they prove less capable of fair treatment. Schools, universities and media have wrecked them.
This becomes evident in Royal Commissions and Discrimination Tribunals, so don’t expect justice.
Deconstruction is a modern “Politically Correct” philosophy of many academics in our universities.
It deconstructs literary works of history and fiction, and their authors and ideas, with a ruthless skepticism grounded in its fundamental “truth” that there is no truth, nor could truth be known even if it exists. There’s no room for morality except what each makes up for himself.
In other words, it’s founded on a contradiction, and is illogical and impractical, and has nothing to offer anyone, but skepticism, doubt, depression, despair- and ultimately suicide:
Everyone hates me, nobody loves me,
Think I’ll go and eat worms...
Deconstruction is a half-truth: it often does make a difference to know who said what; what authority he or it has; what are the circumstances and the author’s background. After all, nihil eligitur nisi sub specie boni, “nothing is chosen except under the species of good”.
Deconstruction collapses like a balloon with:
·         argumentum ad hominem, “arguing to the man” by deconstructing him: Did he have an unhappy childhood with an absent father? etc.
·         re duetto ad absurd tun, by “reduction to an absurdity” of his propositions. The rude put-down is, “You’ve just proved nothing can be known, so there’s no point in me listening to you, and so you’d better shut-up.”
Calling all lay apostles, priests and bishops:
For a bishop, as God’s steward, must be blameless; he must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of goodness, master of himself, upright, holy, and self-controlled; he must hold firm to the sure word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to confute those who contradict it. For there are many insubordinate men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially the circumcision party; they must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for base gain what they have no right to teach. One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
Titus 1:7-13
“Cretans are always liars” means that if someone says, “I am a Cretan,” he must be lying, but if he is not a Cretan, he is certainly telling the truth.
Verbal tricks with ‘always’ and ‘only’ give philosophy a bad name, which it does not deserve, because good philosophy soon demolishes rubbish. However, our aim is less to convince an opponent and more to protect his listeners.
“WE MUST OBEY GOD rather than men.”
Acts 5:29
Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s
Matthew 22:17-22
History is now being repeated, here and overseas: Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image which I have set up? Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image which I have made, well and good; but if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace; and who is the god that will deliver you out of my hands?”
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the long, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.” Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was wont to be heated...
Daniel 3:14-19
This a scenario we Christians in Australia can expect from ISIS and the Communists and even the local Greens if and when they come to power.
Other issues over which we might expect a showdown: Homeschooling, Euthanasia, Abortion, Compulsory Contraception for population control.
Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
Matthew 10:16
Dare to be a Daniel, Dare to stand alone.
Dare to have a purpose true And dare to make it known.

BE OF GOOD HEART
MY LIFE’S WORK, now drawing ever closer to the finishing line, climaxed in the Catholic Family Catechism, the Cardinal Newman Catechist Centre (now Faith Resources), and the Bush Boys’ series. The focus has been the “faith once delivered to the saints” by God-Incarnate, Whose priest I am.
My creative work in old age usually amounts to less than two hours daily, what with answering letters, faxes and phone calls and their exhausting of my dwindling inspiration and energy.
However, I am working on a third edition of the prayer book, Heart Speaks to Heart, to be subtitled the Millennium Edition. It will have some new prayers, plus upgrades of others.
NEW BOYS GO BUSH AGAIN, the long delayed sequel to New Boys in the Bush is a FREE DOWNLOAD of 512 pages (with many pictures) and includes 78 pp of Appendices (with many diagrams): now at www.cardinalnewman.com.au . Hopefully, it will soon be printed as a book.
